Hi, I'm Tony, the creator of the TOWPS. Here's the story of how it came to be! I have been using the Yamaha WX5 MIDI Controller for some time now, and became frustrated with the six AAA batteries dying at the wrong time, or being tied down with the short 6-foot power cable from the Yamaha PA-3C power supply. I play my WX5 most often in a worship setting, and if I forget to switch the unit off, I can't exactly rush back on stage to turn it off. I usually must wait at least 30-45 minutes. At one time, Yamaha manufactured the BT7 power supply, which provided a method of connecting power to and MIDI from the WX using only a single WX cable. In turn, the BT7 could then connect to any MIDI synthesizer. Unfortunately, the BT7 went out of production years ago, and the only (and few) products Yamaha makes these days that support the WX connection cost from $200 to $700 and add functionality that's often unneeded or unwanted, not to mention that only Yamaha products provide this feature. So, I designed my own WX power supply based on original specifications from Yamaha, but modified to use readily available standard electronic components. I first had manufactured some prototype printed circuit boards, and had to order them (and some of the electronics components) in minimum quantities. Since I only had need for two of these units, I offered my extra assembled units for sale on Ebay, and I was amazed at the response. So, given the apparent interest and demand, I redesigned the circuit boards and have had them, and the enclosures, professionally manufactured. The result is Tony's Own WX Power Supply (TOWPS), offered to you direct from the builder! Interested? Click HERE to begin!Want more Info? Contact me! |
