Here's some Original Music I created using:

  • Yamaha WX5
  • Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller
  • Yamaha MOTIF-RACK ES
  • Boss RC-50 Loopstation
  • ... and of course, the TOWPS WX Power Supply!

Katie -- A song I wrote for my daughter.

Tony's Own WX Power Supply (TOWPS), is designed for users of the Yamaha WX5 who are:

  • Tired of going through battery after battery
  • Being tied down by a very short AC Adapter cord
  • Want to use a Non-Yamaha MIDI Synth and still use the WX Power Source
  • Had a BT7 that has failed (it's no longer made!)
  • More Background Information.

TOWPS Basic Outfit

TOWPS Ultra Outfit

Features include:

  • It's SMALL and easy to mount on or in a rack with some Velcro or some other measure you work up. (Measures 2.5" x 2.5" by 1", give or take, and weighs less than 5 ounces.)
  • It's Voltage Regulated to 9V DC (a small change to specifications; the original Yamaha BT7 product was 8V and caused many WX instruments to falsely flash their Low Battery light)
  • It looks cool. I added a pair of pulsating (not just flashing) colored LEDs on the front side of the product. Why? Because any gear-head appreciates a good light show. This feature is a selectable option when you order.
  • It has a 2.5-foot long (or optional 5.5 foot) 5-pin MIDI-OUT Male pigtail. This is usually plenty long to connect to the MIDI-IN connection in your rack. If you need more length, you will need to supply your own MIDI Extension Cable, but I've not tested to see how long that can reach.
  • The "Other Guy" selling a similar product added the capability to install batteries, as did the BT7. But the whole purpose for the TOWPS is to ELIMINATE the batteries, so I decided not to add the extra expense of battery supply circuitry.
  • No Power Switch to fiddle with! When a live DC Power supply is inserted, it's ON. If you want to turn it off, unplug the wall wart, or turn off your WX.

Downsides (Yes, there are some!) Please Ready Carefully!

  • This product comes with NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, with no remedies attached. (But I can tell you this:  I have play-tested every one of the units I've built on a Yamaha WX5 and rework or discard any assembled units that don't function exactly like they're intended to. I will play-test yours again before I ship it just to ensure it's in flawless working order. (I play test them using a WX5, Motif ES-Rack, and PA-3C Power Supply, so I'm trusting $1500 of my own gear to this unit!). That being said, if you receive it and it doesn't work FOR YOU, put it back in the mail within 14 days and I'll refund your money. But you pay return postage and make sure you contact me before-hand. This only applies to complete outfit purchases. Hobby Kits and "Basic Only" supplies are non-returnable.
  • The adapter cable is grayish/creamish in color; contrasts to the black of the box.
  • This system has NOT been tested on the WX7 or WX11, but should function nicely.
